At Fluid Mechanics one of our core skills is hydraulic system design, SimulationX is one of the main tools we use to design and simulate complex hydraulic systems. SimulationX is a modelling tool for modelling multiple physical domains including hydraulics, mechanics, electrical, electronic, magnetic, pneumatics and heat transfer. The video gives a step by step introduction in how to build a hydraulic model. The model created includes a hydraulic power pack, a cylinder and positional control.
SimulationX is a commercial modelling programme based on the Modelica modelling language. Modelica is an open source modelling language controlled by the Modelica association. There are other implementations of Modelica, some of these are commercial like simulation X and Dymola, but OpenModelica is an open source free implementation of Modelica.
